Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.

A senior representative stated the attack left him without words and required to be addressed promptly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
